NC #584 1Writer, iOS Console, ProShot

The grandbaby isn’t here yet, but we’re on the edges of our seats around here. In the mean time I found an app called 1Writer from 1writerapp.com that might help me write in Markdown on the iPad. We’ll take a look at iOS Console, a Mac app from lemonjar.com/… that lets you see the diagnostics coming out of your iOS device. Finally we’ll check out an iOS, Android and Windows Phone camera app that will give you amazing control of your images called ProShot from riseupgames.com/….

Hi this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Mac Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Macintosh bias. Today is Sunday July 17, 2016 and this is show number 584. Well there’s no baby yet, so I’m still here! I didn’t get to go to Macstock but as I said to Lindsay, I wanted to have my cake and eat it too, but I still get cake! We’re on pins and needles around here, jumping every time the phone rings! I’ll try to stay focused on the show, but no promises.

I did get to do my presentation at Macstock through Skype. I did a talk on Apple Photos and how it’s more capable than you might think. I’ve given this talk before at a local user group and it’s about 45 minutes but I had to do it in 20 for Macstock! In just 20 minutes I showed how to turn on the side bar, the difference between photos and all photos, how to make albums and smart albums, how to use the tools that show by default, how to reveal more tools, how to use those tools, how to set the tool selections as defaults, how to install and enable extensions, how to use Affinity Photo inpainting and haze removal, how to use Pixelmator extensions, and how to use the External Editors Extension. Can you imagine all that in 20 minutes??? It was suggested afterwards that I went a BIT fast but I did manage to cram it all in. My hope was that people’s eyes would be opened on what’s there and to encourage them to poke around.

In any case it was fun to at least be a little part of Macstock, even if we didn’t get to see Don McAllister do Karaoke at the Midwest Mac BBQ!
