That&#8217;s a good way to do it &#8211; because if anything asks to overwrite I know I&#8217;ve made a mistake.  <\/font><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<font color=\"#000000\">note:  this snapshot was made while file transfer had already started, you can see some files have already moved.<\/font><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\" style=\"font-size:20px;\">Upgrade your installation<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\" style=\"margin:10px 0px;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podfeet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wpid330-media-1216403537212.jpg\" width=\"495\" height=\"198\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>Visit your main WordPress admin page at \/wp-admin. You may be asked to login again. If a database upgrade is necessary at this point, WordPress will detect it and give you a link to a URL like http:\/\/example.com\/wordpress\/wp-admin\/upgrade.php. Follow that link and follow the instructions. This will update your database to be compatible with the latest code. If you fail to do this step, your blog might look funny. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\" style=\"font-size:20px;\">Upgrade complete!<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\" style=\"margin:10px 0px;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podfeet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wpid331-media-1216403582697.jpg\" width=\"302\" height=\"157\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>WordPress is now successfully updated.  Check the site to be sure.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\" style=\"font-size:20px;\">Plugins might want to be updated too<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\" style=\"margin:10px 0px;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podfeet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wpid332-media-1216403950543.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"448\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>After my upgrade to 2.6, I found that my Plugins icon in the dashboard had a numbered (6) bubble which implied I needed to do something.  Clicking on it revealed that 6 plugins had updates.  I went through each one and clicked upgrade automatically.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"LessonStep top\">\n<h3 class=\"StepTitle\" style=\"font-size:20px;\">Proof that plugins are updating<\/h3>\n<div class=\"StepImage\" style=\"margin:10px 0px;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podfeet.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wpid333-media-1216404084933.jpg\" width=\"428\" height=\"239\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>Each plugin for which I clicked upgrade automatically gave me this window, writing each line one at a time.  Took just seconds to complete each one.
