With the advent of iOS 9, Apple started offering Two-Factor Authentication. \u00a0If you want to read about the differences, I&#8217;ve listed the two Apple support articles about the offerings. \u00a0The main difference between the two is that Two-Step Verification relied on the code being sent via the less secure method of SMS, and the newer Two-Factor Authentication uses built-in funtionality in iOS 9 and above.<\/p>\n<p>Two-step verification: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204152\">https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204152<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two-factor authentication: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204915\">https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204915<\/a><\/p>\n<p>My goal \u00a0was to enable my Apple Watch to automatically unlock my Mac running macOS Sierra, which requires Two-Factor Authentication, so we&#8217;ll go through those steps as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"clarify-article-content\">\n<div class=\"clarify-steps-container\">\n<div id=\"clarify-step-21\" class=\"clarify-step-container\">\n<h3 class=\"clarify-step-title\">Open System Preferences, Security &amp; Privacy<\/h3>\n<div class=\"clarify-step-instructions\">\n<p>Check the box next to your Apple Watch&#8217;s name. Note the watch must be running iOS 3, and the Mac must be running macOS Sierra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clarify-step-image-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"clarify-step-image-container\"><img
