Amazon\u2019s \u201cAlexa\u201d fund invested in start-up Nucleus, who makes a smart video intercom system with Alexa, and is sold \u201cideally\u201d in pairs just like the Show. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recode.net\/2017\/5\/10\/15602814\/amazon-invested-startup-nucleus-cloned-alexa-echo-show-voice-control-touchscreen-video\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"no opener\">Recode article<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nucleuslife.com\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"no opener\">Nucleus site<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Regarging the book 1984: Keith Jensen said, \u201cWhat Orwell failed to predict was that we&#8217;d buy the cameras ourselves, and that our biggest fear would be that nobody was watching.&#8221; -Keith Jensen\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Alexa app on iOS got an update (Android update went live on Wed)<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Voice calling<\/li>\n<li>Our fun experiment with two simultaneous calls (now has >4000 views!)<\/li>\n<li>Privacy &#8211; slurp up your contacts<\/li>\n<li>Really cool though, great audio even on the Dot<\/li>\n<li>Two friends I hadn\u2019t heard from in ages called me out of the blue because of it<\/li>\n<li>Audio quality seems pretty good, even across the room.<\/li>\n<li>Doesn\u2019t work on Amazon Tap<\/li>\n<li>Joe\u2019s Smarter Home Life video of our shenanigans with Echo voice calling: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FnngFpJYgmc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">youtube.com\/&#8230;<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cAlways-connected\u201d cameras in the home. Technically, these landed in our homes with Dropcam, etc, even before the Echo.
