At that point, I’m going to hand you over to Bart and me in Security Bits because there was so much to talk about with so many big stories. We’ll talk about password managers being used as trackers, the IOHIDeous vulnerability, and then spend a lot of time learning the truth (as of now) about the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities. It’s a fascinating session and Bart unpacks all of this for us beautifully of course.

https://media.blubrry.com/nosillacast/traffic.libsyn.com/nosillacast/NC_2018_01_06.mp3

mp3 download

Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Saturday, January 6, 2018, and this is show number 661.

Chit Chat Across the Pond

In Chit Chat Across the Pond this week, we’ve got another installment of Programming By Stealth where Bart teaches us about inheritance (relationships between classes) and polymorphism. Now he said polymorphism is a concept that throws most first-level college students, but in an odd twist, I didn’t find it confusing at all! Plus, he lets us play with cows, ducks, and turkeys in his example so it’s loads of fun. You can find this episode in either the full Chit Chat Across the Pond podcast feed or the Programming By Stealth podcast feed in your podcatcher.

IT Origins – Gestalt IT

This week I had the great pleasure to be interviewed by Rich Stroffolino on IT Origins as part of Gestalt IT. The interview was about my career in IT, how I got into the field and changes I’ve seen over time. I may have gone on a couple of rants about what really bugs me about the IT organization I was in and gave some serious philosophy thoughts that I think IT people would benefit from embracing. Check it out at gestaltit.com/…

Daily Tech News Show

I was also on Daily Tech News Show on Friday where Tom, Sarah and I talked the day’s news, and then discussed the top trends expected at CES and what we think about those trends. To give a little hint, the title of episode 3193 is DTNS 3193a – IoT: The Internet of Toilets.

I’m also super excited that I’m going to be on DTNS during CES on Tuesday in the Central Hall Broadcast Tower. I don’t know what that means but it sounds really cool, doesn’t it? There’s also a DTNS meetup at the MGM Grand Level Up Arcade at 8pm on Tuesday night. If you’re in town Steve and I would sure love to see you there.

Cloud Outliner on ScreenCasts Online

My new favorite outlining tool for the Mac and iOS is Cloud Outliner, so I created a tutorial for Don McAllister’s ScreenCasts Online and it’s available now at screencastsonline.com/….
