Wait a minute – FRIDAY? I thought the show only came out on Sundays??? Well, this week you’re getting a bonus show. I did a great interview today and I just couldn’t wait to get it out. Sit back and enjoy.

Somehow I got on the mailing list for O’Reilly books, which isn’t a bad list to be on actually. In nerdom their books are some of the best. One day Mary Rotman of O’Reilly sent out a message about a new book called O’Reilly book “Design Accessible Web Sites” by Jeremy Sydik. Well this was of great interest to me of course because of the topic, but unfortunately I’m not a web designer. However, my good friend Paige Eissinger IS a web designer. She’s also the host of the Views From the Coop podcast hosted atviewsfromthecoop.com . We thought it would be fun if she read the book and then gave us a review of it in an interview.

Paige notes:
Why be accessible?
It’s the right thing to do, It’s good business, Accessible sites are more usable for everybody, It’s the LAW

Intro to disabilities
Visual
Colorblind Web Filter site – colorfilter.wickline.org
Fujitsu’s Color Doctor (free download) – fujitsu.com
Auditory, Mobility
Dragon Naturally Speaking – nuance.com/naturallyspeaking
Macspeech Dictate – macspeech.com
Glenda Watson Hyatt’s Do It Myself Blog – doitmyselfblog.com
Using pictures and video
Embedded applications
Understanding accessibility guidelines – Web Content Accessiblity Guidelines – www.w3.org
Did I like the book? – ABSOLUTELY!

Best In Show (movie Allison raved about) – imdb.com

Before we go Paige, tell us about your show – you have an interesting format AND an interesting audience!

Blog Talk Radio (live)blogtalkradio.com
Views from the Coop blog (podcast)viewsfromthecoop.com
Some interesting segments, Using podsafe music
IODA Promonet – promonet.iodalliance.com
What I like about the NosillaCast: Allison speed talks…ha!

I hope you enjoyed that, we sure had fun talking. After we stopped recording Paige was laughing at me because I said the conversation should be about 10-15 minutes! It was everything I could do to stop after 30. I think I’d like to have her back on the show again soon. Let me know what you thought of the show, drop me a line at allison@podfeet.com or you can send an email to Paige at chicki.chicki@gmail.com.
