#446 Wirecast Studio for Mavericks, NosillaCast Logo Wear at Zazzle, Photo Stream Dangers, Fitbit Force, Enhanced Voice Dictation

Telestream comes through with a Mavericks-friendly version of Wirecast Studio so the live show succeeded on the new MacBook Pro. Don’t forget to use the Amazon search box on podfeet.com for your holiday shopping needs – give 3% of your purchases to support the show. How about presents for you? Check out our Zazzle logo store at zazzle.com/nosillacast. If you like Photo Stream on iOS and OSX, keep an eye your ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement folder and see how big it gets. It’s storing duplicates of every photo in your Photo Stream and shared Photo Streams. Prizmo 3 from Creaceed.com does OCR for me to transcribe Kyle’s unfortunate letter from Adobe about his credit. Kim Landwehr gives us a review of the Fitbit Force from Fitbit Force. Did you know there’s an Allison voice for OSX? Match that with the new Enhanced Voice Dictation without using the network, and you can record and proofread your own work.

#445 Office 2011 Deactivation Rant, Show Library Folder on Remote Drive, Live with One Audio Jack, Aperture Keywords

I wanted to deactivate Office 2011 on my old Mac so I could activate it on my new Mac…so here’s a nice little rant about how well THAT went. Two more cool ways to show your Library folder on a connected drive or a remote Mac – and of course there’s a Clarify Tutorial over on Podfeet.com. I walk you through the experiments I’ve been doing trying to figure out how to effectively create the Live Show at podfeet.com/live using a new Mac with only one audio jack. In Chit Chat Across the Pond Bart walks us through how to use keywords in Aperture to find your photos.

#444 Shush, WebSSH, Fracture Photo Printing on Glass, Audacity for Noise Removal, Unlocked Phones

I got to be on the video podcast of Mac Jury by Chuck Joiner. Check out Shush to mute your microphone with a single keystroke and check out the Two Teachers Talking podcast. Horse asks how to use SSH to connect to a Mac that’s still alive but maybe the monitor is dead, and I give him a Clarify document on how to do it. Horse responded with an awesome free app for the iPad called “WebSSH” by Itimeteo. I finally printed my California Poppy photo on glass using fractureme.com. I teach how to remove noise using the free and open source Audacity from audacity.sourceforge.net and of course I made a Clarify Document for it too! In Chit Chat Across the Pond Rod Simmons of the SMR Podcast tries to teach me about unlocked and contract free phones.

#443 How to Migrate to a New Mac Without Migration Assistant, Taming the Terminal Part 10

In Errata I am successfully corrected by EVERYONE that CrashPlan definitely does let you back up external drives. Then I walk you through why I think you should consider moving your data manually to a new machine instead of using Migration Assistant. I cover how to move missing fonts, how not to move your bookmarks, how to reconnect your CrashPlan backups to your new machine and why you should make sure to find everything in your ~/Library/Application Support folder, and don’t forget to email yourself a copy of your email certificate to keep your signed/encrypted email. In Chit Chat Across the Pond Bart takes us through Taming the Terminal Part 10 of N – mastering the Manual Pages.
