A few months ago, I created a ScreenCastsONLINE tutorial about three apps from the prolific developer Sindre Sorhus. I taught how to use Dato, Aiko, and Velja. I’m back with four more small but powerful apps from Sindre.
- Plain Text Editor for Mac, iPad, and iPhone gives you a place to get your thoughts down without being distracted by things like formatting.
- Online Check is a quiet little menu bar app that tells you when your Mac has gone offline, and when it goes back online. I keep this running on all of my Macs
- Dato is a very capable menu bar app as a companion to your Calendar, but it might be more than you need. No worries, in this tutorial I cover Today, which only shows you today’s events.
- Any Text lets you create text widgets on your lockscreen or home screen of your Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
ScreenCastsONLINE is a subscription service, but you can get a seven-day free trial and watch all of the current back catalog. Beware of the free trial though — the tutorials on ScreenCastsONLINE are fantastic and you’ll really want to become a member!
