Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Friday, August 1, 2025, and this is show number 1056. Steve and I are about to head off for a week with the family to relax at a house off of Lake Michigan, so you’re getting the show a few days early. That means there’s no live show on Sunday, August 3rd, but we’ll be back for the live show on the 10th.

Thomas Mattock Interviews Perplexity (no blog post)
Let’s start off the show with a unique interview Tom Mattock did for the show. I believe this is the first time anything like this has ever been done for the NosillaCast.
Choosing an EV with Pat Dengler — Part 1 (no blog post)
Our good friend Pat Dengler was in the market to buy a new electric vehicle, and she let me help her research and test drive the various models she considered. I know a lot of people are EV-curious, and so I asked Pat to come on the show to talk about the process and her final decision. I’ve decided to do something really mean, though. I’m going to split the interview into two halves.
In this week’s NosillaCast, you’re going to hear her talk about why she decided to move on from her current EV, even though she was quite happy with it. Then we’ll talk about the cars she considered and the tool we developed together to help her make a decision.
But you’ll have to wait for next week to hear what she ended up buying and why, and what it’s been like driving her new EV for a couple of weeks.
How mean of a place to stop was that? Tune in next week to find out what happens next!
If you’d like to see the QFD decision tool we created together showing how she assessed the cars, there’s a link in the shownotes to it in Google Sheets.
If you’d like to contact Pat for her work as an Apple Certified Consultant, you can email her [email protected] or you can follow her on Instagram: @pdengler.
Support the Show
This week’s hero is the lovely Paul Nielan, who made a generous donation to support the work we do here. On top of helping financially, he also left me a note telling me why he was inspired to do it. He said it was because of my PSA about the Apple Watch SOS feature being a slider, not a button, and because of the great Macstock posts. I’ll guess I’ll have to share the donation with Steve since he did most of the heavy lifting with the Macstock videos. In any case, thank you so much Paul, and if anyone is inspired this week, you can be like Paul and head over to podfeet.com/donate to express that inspiration.

Thanks, Philip – I think we didn’t remember that one properly. I think we were put off by the fact that you do have to enable it each time rather than it being always on. I never want it off, and neither does Pat. It’s one of my favorite features of my Tesla.
Well, that is true. You have to set it every time you turn the car off. I use one pedal driving about 50 to 60% of the time. It’s particularly useful in bumper-to-bumper traffic. One problem I have is that passengers tend to feel more motion discomfort when I use it I think that’s from the fact that with one pedal driving, you tend to stop it a different place usually earlier in the breaking cycle. I like your show a lot. I love the repartée you have with Bart.
So glad you enjoy the show! In yesterday’s show I made a correction about the one-pedal driving based on your feedback and two others, so I appreciate you educating me.
Wishing you a wonderful vacation in Lake Michigan. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy some quality time with your family.
I’ve been using https://www.nothingbuthemp.net/products/build-your-own-drinks-thc-tinctures constantly seeing that on the other side of a month nowadays, and I’m indeed impressed before the sure effects. They’ve helped me judge calmer, more balanced, and less anxious everywhere the day. My snore is deeper, I wake up refreshed, and straight my pinpoint has improved. The value is distinguished, and I worth the natural ingredients. I’ll categorically preserve buying and recommending them to the whole world I recall!
