Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Friday, January 2, 2026, and this is show number 1078.

Happy New Year to everyone with this first episode of 2026. Since it’s early yet again, that means there’s no live show this week. We will begin regular operations on Sunday, January 11th, after our exciting week at CES.

Thanks to George from Tulsa, Eddie Tonkoi, and Bart Busschots, we have an action-packed show for this week, so let’s get tucked in.

Support the Show

Over the holidays, folks were very generous in donating to support the show. Gracie, a lovely black lab I know, went to podfeet.com/donate and bought me some coffees! In keeping with the animal theme, Mr. Ed followed suit. I thank all of the animal NosillaCastaways for their generosity. If your animal friends would like to be cool like Gracie and Mr. Ed, you know where to send them!

CCATP #827 — Bart Busschots on Understanding Email Sender Validation

I want to give my own testimonial about what Bart taught us here. I added my new DMARC record that included p=reject;, which tells receiving mail servers to reject all email from my domain that does not pass SPF or DKIM. A few days later, when my automated MailChimp email newsletter tried to send, I got a notice from the service telling me that I couldn’t send email until I made some changes to my DNS records. They gave me two CNAME records to add, which seemed quite sensible.

But then they told me to set my DMARC record to p=none, which would have entirely undone what we just learned! Bart gave me a gold star for realizing that this was a bad thing and I should not follow their instructions. It was fun to understand what they were asking and not just blindly follow instructions.

Thanks, Bart for making all of this understandable.
