NC #1042 20th Anniversary Shirts, Neoplants, Hue Light Strips, Lotus Ring, PlugBug, WYBOT, Security Bits

Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, April 27, 2025, and this is show number 1042.

I’m working hard on my article about tech in Japan, but it’s not quite ready yet. The good news is that we have a ton of great content for the show, including four more CES interviews and two articles from Allister.

NosillaCast 20th Anniversary Shirts

The 20th anniversary of the NosillaCast is coming up on May 13th, and to commemorate the event, we’ve created 20th Anniversary shirts! They’re from Cotton Bureau, and if you choose one of the vintage blend ones, they’re super yummy soft. I put in a lot of color options, but if there’s a color you wish was there, shoot me an email at [email protected]. Some colors just don’t work with the multi-colored logo, but I’ll check for you just in case. I hope you’ll proudly wear these shirts so people will ask you, “What the heck is the NosillaCast?”

Macstock Conference Coupon Code

You know my favorite conference of the year is Macstock in Woodstock, Illinois just outside of Chicago. It’s such a great gathering of interesting people. The sessions are always fantastic, and the hallway discussions are even better. It’s a very friendly conference where there are no “clicks”. Everyone is approachable and fun. I’m bringing all of this up because if you register to attend using the coupon code PODFEET50, you’ll get $50 off the conference fee and I’ll get $25. The show is July 11-13 and I guarantee you’ll meet other NosillaCastaways there too! Head over to macstockconferenceandexpo.com/… today and come join us!

PBS Tidbit 12 — XKPasswd Rewrite Exits Beta

In this week’s tidbit episode of Programming By Stealth, Bart Busschots and Helma van der Linden start by reviewing how she took the reins of the XKPasswd project to first convert it from Perl to JavaScript, then to rewrite the web app. After that, she separated the JavaScript library from the web app code. This episode is primarily walking through exactly how she accomplished that split. And now XKPasswd is officially out of beta and available at xkpasswd.net

You can find Helma’s fabulous tutorial shownotes and the audio podcast at pbs.bartificer.net.

Support the Show

We have a hero of the week, and it’s Thomas Lebens. He went to podfeet.com/donate and used the “Buy Me a Coffee” tool to choose a number of $5 coffees that showed the value he feels he’s been getting from the content we produce here. While I appreciate the money to fund the work, it means even more to me just to know he’s out there learning from the show and maybe giggling from time to time at how I deliver the information. Thank you, Thomas!
