NC #1076 Night Before Christmas, New Taming the Terminal, Eddie Tonkoi on Producing an Audiobook

Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Saturday, December 20, 2025, and this is show number 1076. The alert amongst you will realize that if I’m recording on Saturday, that means there will be no live show on Sunday.

As I announced last week, we won’t have a live show until Steve and I are back from CES on Sunday, January 11th. But thanks to the wonderful work of Eddie Tonkoi, Bart, Adam Engst, and George from Tulsa, we will not miss a single show during the holidays, and every show will be simply packed with new content. We don’t do reruns on the NosillaCast, with one notable exception.

For over 20 years, Steve and I had our cars serviced by a delightful man who called himself Honda Bob. He was unique in that he drove to us in a mobile van, rather than us having to go to some smelly garage and wait on a hard plastic chair for our service to be complete. But Honda Bob was much more to us than that; he was our friend. And he was a NosillaCastaway. He loved tech and loved the community, and even recorded some segments for the show.

Sadly, we lost Bob a while back. To give you an idea of his geek level, when we went to see him when he knew the end was near, he gave me two bare 480GB SSDs he’d used as backup drives because he knew that would mean a lot to me. One of them is backing up my eufy cams as we speak.

Steve wrote a Christmas poem to commemorate Bob’s contribution to the geek community that we like to play every year.

Support the Show

You know I’m a huge fan of Patreon as a way for you to help fund the shows we do here at the Podfeet Podcasts Empire. This week we didn’t get any new patrons, but I DID get a raise! Patreon has always paid out through PayPal, which means that not only does Patreon take a cut, but so does PayPal. This week, I got an email telling me I could change to direct deposit to my bank.

This means that instead of somewhere between 1-3% being removed from my payout, it will be only a $.25 per month fee from Stripe who processes the transfer. I know that’s not a huge raise, but every little bit helps!

If you’d like to become a patron, head over to podfeet.com/patreon and choose a monthly amount max that’s right for you.
