Allison interviews Prima Shi, Chief Marketing Officer of Birdfy, about their array of currently available smart bird feeders and fountains, along with the yet-to-be-released Hum Bloom smart hummingbird feeder.
Prima shows the Hum Bloom, Birdfy’s newest smart hummingbird feeder. It is the world’s first hummingbird feeder that provides 4K/120fps video as well as high-resolution photos. It features a no-leak design and has two cameras, one of which offers slo-mo video of the hummingbird’s wing flutter.
Prima also shows the Birdfy Feeder 2 Pro, which records video and photos of feeding birds with two cameras and three lenses. The cameras/lenses provide portrait and wide-angle views of the feeding birds from different angles, following the birds’ movements as they feed.
Prima concludes with the Birdfy Bath Pro with a camera and a built-in solar-powered fountain to provide continuous, eco-friendly operation. It has a traditional bath along with a specialized hummingbird bath plate, catering to the needs of different bird species.

Allison
Last year at CES everybody told me to look at the automated camera bird feeders from Birdfy and so they’ve come out with even more concepts here today and I’m with Prima Shi and I even practice that. From Birdfy and you’re going to tell us about some of the new innovations for this year.
Prima
Okay, hi! So this year we have this Birdfy Hum Bloom. This is the honoree, the winner of CES Innovation Awards. And why wins the awards? Because now it’s the world’s first 4k hummingbird feeder. And it has the slow-mo that you can see every detail of the flutter of the hummingbirds. And also you can see the whole structure is different from the traditional hummingbird feeders. You can get just as good pictures as you use the best camera like Nikon or Canon. You get the petal and hummingbirds, not the feeders. So you get very clean framing of the picture.
Allison
Let me describe this a little bit. It’s a white container that’s kind of like an hourglass. It’s next in at the middle. And then out of the top of it is a green stem like from a flower and the flower hangs below the chamber where the fluid is, where the sugar water is.
Prima
Yes.
Allison
And that way as they suck fluid out it’ll automatically pull it down. So you don’t have a pump in here.
Prima
Right. And with this structure there’s no leaking issue.
Allison
Oh that’s new. I’ve never had one that didn’t leak.
Prima
Right. So that’s why we say it innovative. Hummingbirds just get water from here and it’s not like from the traditional one. I mean this is also good but this is a new structure compared to this one.
Allison
Yeah. That’s very cool. All right. You have a lot. We’re going to try to narrow you down. Talk about this bird feeder up here. It sort of looks like a gazebo. A green gazebo with a bunch of little stations in front.
Prima
That’s a nice metaphor. Okay. So this is our second generation of a smart bird feeder. And you can tell from this design it has two cameras, three lenses. And this one it has the portrait view and the wide angle view. And this is a side camera. So for the first time you see the birds in every detail.
Allison
Different angles at the same time, right?
Prima
Yeah. And with the portrait camera it actually follows the movement of the birds. So every time the birds move, the camera moves, you’re always following the movement of the birds. And with two different angles of cameras you get every detail of the birds. So it’s a lot of fun. And maybe you can notice the hollow design of here. So with this certain distance you get the best framing. Yeah. Photo lenses. Yes. So every design here we have put into huge consideration into it. It comes with a reason.
Allison
Oh yeah. Yeah. That’s fantastic. So these cameras they record to two separate chips in the SD cards or whatever in the devices.
Prima
I actually have a picture. A postcard. But I cannot find it here. It has. Yeah. It will show in the same picture of two different pictures.
Allison
Yeah. So you showed a couple of pictures here from these. Oh, she had them a second ago. Oh, that’s okay. Yeah, actually. Okay. We’re looking, we’ve got some video over here looking at the different bird feeders and the videos.
Prima
Yeah. All from our products and different design. Like this is the bird feed bath. This is the winner of Best of Innovation of CES.
Allison
So this is a bird bath. It’s a, it looks like a plastic bowl at about maybe knee height. And then it waters out of there and then has a, out of the center and then has a camera.
Prima
And this is the picture you get with the bird feed bath. Yes. And the center, it has a solar powered fountain. Yeah. Oh, nice. So you can see from the picture here, birds can have fun bathing. Like this.
Allison
So you’re watching the birds and, uh, and it’s pumping it automatically for using the sun. That is fantastic.
Prima
Yes. You have a lot of fun watching it.
Allison
So if people want to find out about more of these products, where would they go?
Prima
birdfy.com.
Allison
And that’s spelled B I R D F Y.com. And let me ask how much is the hummingbird feeder?
Prima
Well, this is not on the market yet, but we are considering about, uh, 350 something.
Allison
Okay. Not that bad. No, it’s a subscription service.
Prima
Uh, actually you can use our app. It’s totally free. Oh, okay.
Prima
Yeah. No matter you subscribe or not, you can get the basic function. But if you want to enjoy the advanced feature, like, uh, the bird data, like the analysis of how many birds you get per day and how many species you get per, for a period of time, then you can choose to subscribe. But even you don’t do that, you can still have all the videos and pictures.
Allison
Okay. So I’m more of the, Ooh, look at the pretty picture person, not the, I care exactly who it is.
Prima
Yes. That’s okay.
Allison
But it’s a little bit of both. This has been fantastic. Thank you much for your time.
Prima
Thank you.
Allison
Thank you!
