When you post online, and you know I’m following you, beware that if you say something interesting, you might be in danger of being asked onto one of my shows. That’s what happened to blind knitter and programmer, Jane Jordan.
After Jane and I were done talking, I discovered that she has been listening to the NosillaCast since she got her first Mac, in June of 2005, only one month after the show got started. I thought we’d just bumped into each other on Mastodon. How crazy is that?
If you’d like to connect with Jane, you can find her on Mastodon at @[email protected].

I said in the Chit Chat that I wasn’t coding apps. Well, the day after that, I changed my mind. Well, I don’t know if web pages are really apps but they can have games, and that is what I am working on, slowly and carefully. I ggot tired of being unable to play Scrabble against sighted people online and have a fun experience for myself, so I am working on that. I do have a Braille Scrabble board and letters, and of course it has print as well, but the letters keep sliding out of place when I feel them, so it’s getting very frustrating playing that game. Gemini and I are having fun working on it, and I am getting valuable feedback from sighted and blind testers alike. I am also working on an audio-only driving game, which eventually I hope to get sounds for. It’s also web-only. Maybe one day I will dive in and make them proper apps in Python or something, I don’t know, but for now, I am working with HTML and JavaScript (Thanks Bart!) and with Gemini. I am also putting in Braille support for the word game.
