CES 2019: OWC Docks, Drives, and Dongles

Allison interviews OWC CEO Larry O’Connor about several products currently available at OWC. He starts with the Clingon, a small plastic device that helps to secure and protect your USB-C connector when it’s plugged into a USB-C port. Larry then describes OWC’s Thunderblade v4 drive (Gen 2) with up to 8TB of flash storage and a 2500 MB/sec sustained data rate. OWC’s USB-C Thunderbolt3 travel dock has two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 4K video output, an SD card reader, and a full power-delivery USB-C port. Larry then moves to OWC’s 10-port dock with external power, 3 USB-A ports, 1 USB-C, mini display port, an SD card reader, up to 60 W output power, and it supports up to 10 GB/sec sustained data rate. He concludes with OWC’s Thunderbolt 3 14-port dock that has 5 USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, digital audio out, Ethernet, 2 USB-C Thunderbolt ports, mini display port for 4K video, SD and micro SD card readers, audio out, and a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port.
