NC #756 Do I Need Homebrew, Airpods Pro, Security Bits

This week I’ll try to answer a dumb question from Ryan Winkler about what Homebrew is and whether he needs it. Then I’ll give you my take on the new AirPods Pro, and whether they fit in Steve’s wrong earholes. Then we’ve got a nice meaty Security Bits even though there were no Security Mediums on which to chew.

Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, November 3, 2019, and this is show number 756.

Chit Chat Across the Pond

In Chit Chat Across the Pond this week, Bart Busschots is back with Programming By Stealth 85 in which we review Objects as Arrays in JavaScript. I have to say I’m really enjoying his work circling us back through things we learned a long time ago. He’s also teaching us and telling us about new things we can do since the language has progressed since we last saw these tools.

I actually got my homework done, and done well, with a lot of help from my teaching assistant, Dorothy. We created a set of cards that showed the currency rate as a function of a base country. We got to use AJAX and JavaScript and for loops and looping in Mustaches and templates and all kinds of nerdy goodness.

If you’d like to learn along with us, check out Programming By Stealth in your podcatcher of choice, or you can listen right at podfeet.com/… where you’ll find links to Bart’s fabulous tutorial show notes and all of the examples.

Support the Show

We’re now officially into the holiday shopping season (you have started your shopping, right?) That means it’s time for the annual reminder to suggest that you use the Amazon Affiliate Links in the shownotes to start your shopping. Let’s say you hear me mention a swell product on the show, like the OmniCharge battery pack with USB-C and USB-A charging I just worked into the AirPods Pro conversation. You can bet there’s a link to it in the shownotes on Amazon. If you click that link and buy the OmniCharge battery pack, or buy something else in that same session, a small percentage of what you buy will go to help pay those pesky hosting bills. I appreciate all of you who use the links already, it makes a huge difference.
