Allison interviews Dr. Patricia Verduin, Chief Technology Officer of Colgate, about their new Plaqless Pro smart electric toothbrush. The Plaqless Pro incorporates optic sensor technology near the brush head to detect biofilm buildup in the mouth so that it can be removed while brushing. This innovative toothbrush enables users to see when they need to brush longer in one area of their mouth and when the biofilm buildup has been removed. The Colgate Connect mobile app pairs the brush via Bluetooth to give the user a personalized brushing experience. The app shows the user a comprehensive map of their mouth including where they brushed their teeth and where they missed a spot. It also provides instant brushing feedback, personalized data, coaching, and oral care tips. The Plaqless Pro will be available in 2020. The setting is the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.
