Well, I’ve only got one more show to do before Steve and I head off to Antarctica! While we’re gone, Bart Busschots and Allister Jenks will be in charge of the shows. I really truly need you to give them content! If you’re already certain you’re going to be providing something, please let me know ASAP so we know to count on it. We leave on the 17th of January so you’ve pretty much got only one week from the day I’m recording this to get something to me so I can give it to them. It’s a huge ask for them to do this work for us so I hope you’ll make it easier for them.

Support the Show

Way back in December, Rush Sherman became our newest Patreon subscriber and I totally forgot to mention it! I feel terrible that I didn’t immediately sing his virtues after he made the decision to help support the shows we do here at the Podfeet Podcasts. He went to podfeet.com/patreon and committed a dollar amount that was right for him and his family and also showed his appreciation for the content we provide.

And, the delightful Claus Wolf went to podfeet.com/paypal and made a one-time donation to help the show. He is an equally fine human being and I celebrate his virtues as well.

Truly interesting report on the lastpass kerfluffle.
I was most interested in the password-cracking industry that uses databases of common English words.
This raises several questions — does their database also include German, Spanish, Russian words? Slipping some of those in could increase the entropy. Next, adding a 1 or 2 at the beginning or end isn’t too clever, but what about changing an l to a 1, an O to a 0, etc? These can occur in the middle of words, not just at the end or beginning.
Sounds to me that a tutorial on the techniques of industrial password-crackers would be very informative.
    Cheers.
