CES 2024: AISPEX Mobile EV Fast Chargers

Allison interviews AISPEX CEO Paul Nie about their two mobile EV fast charger units which are currently working prototypes. Paul expects UL certification of both units in the next few months after which they will be available for sale in the U.S. Both units are standalone DC fast chargers designed to charge EVs on the roadside or at a fixed site without a built-in EV charging infrastructure. Both are semi-portable, quite heavy units on wheels that can be transported via truck to their destination. An example use case would be a mobile auto service, such as AAA, that would carry a unit on a service truck to charge EVs that have run out of juice on the road. The smaller unit stores 50 kWh of energy and can charge an EV with 20 kW of power (~70 miles of range per hour of charge on a Tesla Model 3/Y) and the larger unit stores 184 kWh of energy and can charge at 50 kW of power (~175 miles of range per hour of charge). Both units provide CCS and NACS charging plugs which are compatible with most EVs in the U.S.

Imagine the peace of mind knowing a mobile charger could be dispatched if your EV runs out of juice. No more anxiety about waiting hours for a tow truck! This could be a game-changer for long road trips and rural areas.
