Allison interviews Alex Lane from ViewSonic about their latest line of foldable and 4K/5K displays.
Alex first showed ViewSonic’s portable monitor, which should be released in Q2 of 2026 for $350. It has two 1080p displays connected by a hinge that allows them to be folded to form a tent-like arrangement. This allows two people facing each other to view the two displays separately. Each display can connect to the same computer or two separate computers. Cables are connected to the smaller base of the display, not the displays themselves, so cables don’t show from the front of the displays.
Next, Alex shows their 27” 1080p wireless display. It connects to computers, laptops, or phones wirelessly through a USB-C dongle and has up to a 50 ft casting radius. This display supports Windows and Apple computers and sells for $260.
Alex concludes with ViewSonic’s line of 4K and 5K monitors. He showed 27” 4K and 5K monitors, both with Thunderbolt that supports daisy chaining up to two 4K or 5K displays, depending on the computer’s power. Both displays have a small bezel, are adjustable in height, and can swivel and tilt. The 4K display sells for $780 and the 5K for $950. He also shows ViewSonic’s 24” 4K display that sells for $550.

Allison: If you’ve been paying attention for a while, you’ll know that I am in love with my 4K portable display from ViewSonic. And so I ran over to talk to Alex Lane so he could tell us what other products they have here at CES.
Alex: Yeah, so this year we have a very exciting new portable monitor. It’s coming out in Q2 of this year. It is a dual-screen portable. So as you’ll see right here, we have two separate displays. On top, both of them are connected to the same computer right now. But you can connect it to two separate computers. So it can have one model displaying on the top, one on the bottom. Something else that’s really cool about it is if you turn it like this into our tent.
Allison: It’s like a tent.
Alex: Yes, like a tent. It’ll have a G sensor to swap over to the side. So you can have one person on one side of the desk, another on the other.
Allison: Let me describe this a little more in detail. So when he’s got it up in the initial mode, it’s basically a 14-inch widescreen display and then it comes to a hinge and then there’s just another one sitting right up above it. And then he flipped it into that tent mode so you could share between two people. So you’re doing a presentation, you can see what you’re doing on an external monitor.
Alex: Yes, exactly. So you can mirror it, you can have two people working on two separate things at the same time. Super versatile. It’s also really nice with the cable management because all of the cables are built into the base itself. So you don’t have to have any kind of cables on the side. It doesn’t look ugly like that.
Allison: And I got to tell you, that is one of the main selling features, the reason I chose the one from you guys is because it’s got that small pack on the back and the stuff comes out to the side and it doesn’t get in my way while I’m trying to get close to it with my laptop. So what’s the price point on this?
Alex: Yeah, so this is going to come in at 349.99.
Allison: That’s not bad. What’s the resolution?
Alex: These are both 1080p.
Allison: Okay. Okay. What else do you got here?
Alex: Yeah, sure. So this one is a 27-inch wireless 1080p model. It’s really exciting just for people who don’t like wires. If you don’t like to fidget with your wires and have tons of ugly cables lying around, this is a perfect solution for you. It comes with a dongle just like this. It’s a USB-C dongle. You plug this into your phone, your laptop, whatever uses USB-C, and it’ll connect up, and it just displays. It has about a 50-foot casting radius.
Allison: Oh wow.
Alex: I’m not sure who’s going to need that much, but it does have that if you need it.
Allison: But you can.
Alex: You can.
Allison: This works on Windows and Mac?
Alex: Yes, Windows and Mac.
Allison: And what’s the price point on that?
Alex: This one is coming in at 259.99.
Allison: 259. Now I think we’re going to, down here we’ve got one of the big girl monitors here. This is a 4K monitor, but you also have a 5K version of this 5K 27-inch display. So everybody’s looking for how do I get a 5K 27-inch display and not pay Apple prices?
Alex: Yeah. It comes in at half the price of the Apple model. So it’s 949.99. Fortunately, we don’t have it on display right now, but it looks exactly like these though. Same ID, same concept. Thunderbolt models. So you can daisy chain with your MacBook. You can daisy chain up to two 5K models if you have a powerful enough MacBook or Windows. It does not have to just be Apple.
Allison: Yeah. Everybody gets to play with Viewsonic. You used to be a little more hardcore oriented towards Windows and we always felt like a little bit of an afterthought. But that changed quite a few years ago, where it’s really coming in strong for both groups to get to have fun.
Alex: Yeah. We really want to support everybody, as many people as we can with our monitors. So really happy to come out with this new line.
Allison: It’s got a really thin bezel around the sides. The bottom’s maybe half an inch or three quarters of an inch black bezel and it’s got a flat black bottom to it. Is it adjustable?
Alex: It is. It’s fully height adjustable, swivel, tilt, pivot, everything.
Allison: You just beat Apple there, too.
**Alex:” Yeah, it’s Surprising.
Allison: Can you see how low it can go?
Alex: Of course, of course. Let’s see.
Allison: He’s pushing it down. Oh, baby, that’s actually what I need. I need it to go low. It’s about maybe three inches off the table there. And tilted too. Oh, that’s fantastic. I’m very short-waisted and all of them are too tall for me. And so you’ve got the 4K version. They’re both Thunderbolt, 4K, and 5K. So what are the price points on those?
Alex: Yeah, so this one is coming in at \$799.99. Just that 5K price point is what boosts up the 27-inch to \$949.99. And then we also have a 24-inch here at \$549.99.
Allison: Now you, oh, okay. And you’ve got it vertical. Is that just for fun?
Alex: We have a vertical. Yeah, it’s just for fun. We have a vertical video, so we wanted to show that off.
Allison: Or you ran out of table?
Alex: That too. Just showing off that pivot adjustment. You can have it in whatever configuration you’d like, though.
Allison: This is great, Alex. I’m really a big fan of the direction the company’s going, and like I said, I love that OLED 4K. How big is that?
Alex: That’s 16 inch.
Allison: 16 inch. Yeah, that thing is beautiful. I actually brought it with me here to CES. All right, thank you very much. People want to find out more, viewsonic.com.
Alex: Yes.
Allison: All right, very good. Thank you.
Alex: Yeah. Thank you so much.
