Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, September 6, 2026, and this is show number 1113.
Before we get started, if you’re listening to this episode close to when it came out, remember that Steve and I will be joining the NosillaCastaways in our live chatroom at podfeet.com/chat during the Apple announcement on Wednesday, September 9 at 10 AM Pacific Time. Hope to have you there!
Remember last week when Allister talked about his long and accomplished career as a programmer, and how he walked us through his transition to accepting an AI assistant to help him code? This week, after some earlier segments by Eddie Tonkoi and me, you’ll hear Adam Engst explain his long career of never becoming an accomplished programmer, and how accepting an AI assistant has given him so much joy in the creation of applications. It’s the exact opposite story with the same happy ending.

Audiobook Audio (V3) Part 9: Invisible Cadence Editing in Logic
Stream Your Own Content When Away From Home with UGREEN Wireless Transmitter
We had a chance to try out the UGREEN again when we went away for the weekend. The TV in the hotel was mounted to the wall in the corner of the room and had a ton of room so you could walk around behind it. This meant it was trivial to use the included HDMI cable to hook up the receiver to HDMI 2, leaving the normal TV feed on HDMI 1 alone.
Oddly, we were never able to get the TV to recognize the UGREEN on HDMI 2. I unplugged what I can only presume was a cable box feed from HDMI 1, and the UGREEN was recognized.
But then we ran into a very odd problem. The audio was REALLY REALLY LOUD. We were transmitting from my 13″ iPad, and neither the remote control nor the volume buttons on the iPad’s Magic Keyboard would lower the volume. The same remote had worked fine to control the audio level on the regular TV feed.
We came up with an ingenious solution. We used the remote to mute the TV speakers (which luckily DID work), and then switched the audio output on the iPad to use its own internal speakers. We set the iPad on a table between us and the TV, and it sounded great; Probably better than the TV speakers.
I’m adding this little tidbit to the end of the review to make sure you know that fiddling with hotel TVs is always an adventure, but with a little creativity you too can watch Star Trek Strange New Worlds and Silo when away from home with the UGREEN transmitter/receiver.
Support the Show
This week’s hero is Drew, who made a very generous donation through PayPal. Not only did he contribute financially, he also wrote a lovely note that made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I’d like to read you a little bit of it.
Thanks to DTNS, I have enjoyed your podcast for years. Setapp, countless other app recommendations, & MGG. I pass your assistive tech info to my daughter, who works with autistic children you reach beyond the individual.
Isn’t that wonderful? I love being part of the DTNS family, and I’m thrilled if anything I do here benefits those on the spectrum. It’s also great to know Drew is out there listening.
If you’d like to be a hero like Drew, head over to podfeet.com/paypal and show your support financially, and maybe drop me a little note too.
