I’ve been doing the rounds at local user groups about why the members might want to use a password manager. User groups tend to be in the older age group and while they politely listen to me and ask insightful questions, many of them are suspicious of these new fangled ideas I’m pushing.
That got me thinking, what if I could get my awesome father-in-law Ken Sheridan to explain how it makes his life easier? He’s just turned 80 years old so I know they would respect his opinion. My hope is that others will show this video to their friends and that it will help them move to higher security with a password manager.
In this five minute interview Ken explains why passwords were hard for him in the past, how much easier it is now with 1Password, and what the process was like for him getting his passwords transferred to 1Password.

I’m Eva and I work for AgileBits, the makers of 1Password.
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to educate your readers on the importance of password managers and online security, and for such an amazing video about 1Password!
In this day and age, it is so important that we all use strong and unique passwords for every site that we visit, and password managers can help make it much more convenient to be secure.
Keep sharing the secure word!

Thanks for making this message available! It is so important as our aging population has accepted “those new fangled computer thingeys” as a necessary evil, so to speak, that they have a tool available to make it easier to be safe with their accounts. To have Mr. Sheridan on talking about how easy it was is a great way to reduce any anxiety someone would have with using a password manager.
The fact that Good Witch Eva replied is even more awesome – a company that proactively seeks out their users and keep up with what is being said about them has to be good, right? I mean, it’s not like that only reply to “you are evil” messages if even that.
You may need different music for this type of video post though. It was hard getting past not hearing you say “It’s that time of the week again…” after hearing it. 🙂
Great job getting the word out!
[…] and he’s just as security conscious, if not more. You may remember him from the video, “Octogenarian Talks 1Password”. If you haven’t seen it, I put a link in the shownotes, it’s well worth watching and […]
