Robert Heron Picks The Nits – DTNS 4187 – Daily Tech News Show

This week I had the pleasure of being on the Daily Tech News Show on Friday where we finished off the week of CES coverage. Robert Heron of AVExcel was on the show to talk about TV tech, and I gave a rundown of five off-the-beaten path products I’d like to know more about. check out Friday’s episode of DTNS entitled “Robert Heron Picks the Nits”. But you’re already subscribed to DTNS in your podcatcher of choice, right?

Clockwise #432 By “Read” I Mean “Listen”

I also had a blast being on Clockwise this week with Mikah Sargent and Dan Moren. I got to meet senior editor at 9t5Mac Zac Hall as the guest along with me. We talked about making our digital photos into physical media, our experiences with external monitors, Apple’s rumored audiobook service, and what features we might find appealing for an AR/VR headset. I hope you’ll go check out Clockwise in your podcatcher of choice and look for episode #432 By “Read” I Mean “Listen”.

Chit Chat Across the Pond

Tomorrow is Bart’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Bart!) and he decided that there’s nothing he’d rather do than on his birthday than record an episode of Programming By Stealth. Because of that next episode of Chit Chat Across the Pond will be coming out tomorrow as it hasn’t yet been recorded. I’ll update the NosillaCast blog post segment with the link when it’s up, and of course I’ll tweet about it and add it to our Slack so you’ll be sure to see. Heck, you’re probably subscribed in your podcatcher of choice anyway so you’ll get it as soon as I post it.

Support the Show

You know who rocks? The three year long patrons of the Podfeet Podcasts, that’s who. Helma van der Linden, Dean Elger, Gre Showtime’s Over
g Hatfield, Aristidis Skamagakis, and Claus Wolf have all been support our work here since 2019. These lovely people went to podfeet.com/patreon and clicked a couple of buttons, looked at their options and decided what amount of money reflected the value they have gotten from the show. You can put in a dollar per show (and of course much larger numbers) but you can also limit your monthly outlay to what you can afford. If you can’t afford to support the show financially, you don’t have to. This content will continue to be free as long as I’m able. But there are significant costs associated with doing the show, and it’s great when people help offset those costs. My thanks again to Helma, Dean, Greg, Aristidis, and Claus for their support.

Allison … re your issue with Air Pods showing zero battery life but then when inserting into case (or disco/recon) would show 80%+ charge status … you may find another similar problem with your new ones … I have gone thru two sets of BEATS FIT PRO and having another problem … buds will not correctly seat to contacts in the case for charging … while they will snap in via the (strong magnets) I come back to them the next day and one will show as 2% and the other as 100%.

I started monitoring the situation using the battery widget (love it) on my iPhone after putting them in the case, and would see that one of them was not charging, but still depleting battery. I had a first pair via pre-order with Amazon, so thought maybe was just an early product run problem … so I returned and purchased another pair directly from Apple. Had exact same problem and returned.

Was very frustrating because did not want to always have to confirm they were connected correctly to charge contacts in case.

Very sad, because the fit and audio quality of the Beats Fit Pro is outstanding and better than Air Pods Pro by every measure (my view).
