PBS Tidbit 19: Building a JavaScript CLI App with NodeJS
In this final episode of Tidbit 19, Bart walks us through the very few libraries he used for the final design of his Linkifier command line interface app. His choices on tooling to build nice terminal commands and provide color in the terminal (like red for error messages) were based on simplicity, the fewest dependencies, and active support. It was a very fun episode to record as he wrapped the entire story up in a bow. Check it out at pbs.bartificer.net.
Shooting and Editing an Eclipse Video with Steve Sheridan
On last week’s show, I had Steve on to explain how he managed to distill the amazing experience of a total solar eclipse into a 2.5-minute video. We recorded that audio segment using Zoom, and I recorded it in video as well. Steve edited the video and brought in still shots and videos of the different cameras and the views those cameras saw. It really brings the conversation to life instead of just a couple of talking heads. I was there for the eclipse; I saw the short video; I was there for the recording of the conversation, and yet I still learned even more from the video with all of the extra added content.
My Vapor Chamber’s Bigger Than Yours, with Allison Sheridan | D. Griffin Jones
You may know the name D. Griffin Jones from his work as a writer for Cult of Mac. He’s no longer with them, but he’s started a podcast called “Friends of Griffin”. He wanted to find a podcaster who had purchased an iPhone 18 Pro, but all of his friends were holding out for the Duo. Luckily, he thought to cold-email me, and I agreed to come on his show. We hit it off great, and I now consider him a friend.
