NC #628 Dumb Question Corner, B&H Photo, GoPro Karma Drone, Hunting Black Bars of Doom

Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite and Programming By Stealth are both searchable now in iTunes, the Apple Podcasts app, along with Downcast, Pocketcasts and Overcast. I put out a call for help – I need recorded reviews some time next week for the following week’s show because we’re going on yet another vacation. Videos are now a button on the podfeet.com home page so you can get to them more easily and I explain how Helma helped me make that happen. In Dumb Question Corner I’ll answer Rod Simmons’s boss’s question about how to mark up emails on an iPad Pro. We’ve got two more NAB 2017 interviews: we’ll talk to B&H about their mobile microphones, and GoPro about their new Karma Drone. I’ll walk you through all of the intricacies of tech goodness in how I think I’ve finally rid podfeet.com of the Black Bars of Doom (trademark Donald Burr).

NAB 2017: GoPro Karma Drone and Grip

Allison interviews Jake Barz from GoPro about their innovative Karma drone. The Karma is a quadcopter with collapsable propeller arms and landing gear for enhanced portability. It houses a GoPro camera (Hero3 and up) in a front-mounted, 3-axis gimbal with a built-in gimbal dampening system. What makes the Karma unique is how the user can easily dismount the gimbal from the drone and quickly mount it to the GoPro Grip handle for handheld steadicam video. The Karma kit also includes a padded backpack tailored to the Karma, a battery/charger, and a proprietary controller with high res screen for first person viewing during flight. The setting is the NAB Show floor in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Learn more at https://shop.gopro.com/karma

Then we hear about the C-me Selfie Drone, and the Fly Sport Earbuds from Braven. Finally I wrap up by telling you my tales of adventure with offsite backups and why I’ve moved from CrashPlan over to Backblaze.
