Chit Chat Across the Pond

I have a love of numbers, and especially numbers that make sense. I was chatting with Bart and Mark Pouley about how much it pleased me when I found out many years ago that BMW model numbers made sense. The first digit (3, 5, or 7) was the body style, and the last two digits were the engine displacement, so a BMW 320i has a 2.0-liter engine. Then I explained I was distressed when they made that sort of a guideline. The 328i sedan now has a 2.0-liter engine, and the 335i has a 3.0-liter engine. It makes me crazy.

Anyway, this isn’t a show about model numbers on cars, but my desire for clean, understandable numbering is relevant. There isn’t a Chit Chat Across the Pond this week and there wasn’t one two weeks ago for one very important (to me) reason. If I skipped a couple of episodes, it meant that the very first episode of Programming By Stealth when we start on back-end development with PHP will be episode 700. We also started the series after JavaScript on installment 100 of Programming By Stealth and that made me happy too.

It’s a dumb reason to skip shows but it makes me happy.

Support the Show

I am amazed at how generous so many people are to support the podcasts through Patreon. I know everyone can’t afford to do it, and you know I don’t want anyone to stretch themselves if they can’t. But did you know that a very teeny percentage of listeners actually do support the show financially? It would make me really happy, if you can afford it, if you’d got to podfeet.com/patreon and find a dollar amount that shows the value you get out of the content we create here.
