Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, August 30, 2026, and this is show number 1112.
Surprise and Shine Event with Apple
As you all probably know, Apple has scheduled their next announcement event for Wednesday, September 9 at 10 AM Pacific. It’s a Wednesday this year because it’s the week of Labor Day for the US. I bring this up to invite you to join other NosillaCastaways to text chat about the event live while it’s happening. As always, Steve and I will not be talking in voice during the announcements.
Please join us in our Discord channel at podfeet.com/chat at 10 AM on the 9th!
2026 Spain Total Solar Eclipse – YouTube
As you know, Steve and I traveled to Spain to see a total eclipse of the sun. This was our fifth total eclipse (plus we saw one annular eclipse). Witnessing totality is something magical, and this one did not disappoint. In fact, it was my favorite so far.
Steve loves to record and edit video of eclipses, and he outdid himself this time. I’m going to subject Steve to an interview about how he captured the eclipse with four cameras and several mics, stitching it all together at a later date.
But the important thing about his final video, as Bart says, is that he told a story with his two-minute video. It’s not just the eclipse; it’s how he spliced in the audience’s reaction that makes this such a compelling video.
I put a link in the shownotes to his video on YouTube and I highly recommend you go spend two whole minutes experiencing the eclipse with us.
PBS Tidbit 19: Building a JavaScript CLI App with NodeJS
Bart wrote an extensive story about how to build a JavaScript command line interface (CLI) app with NodeJS and called it Tidbit 19. Tidbits aren’t necessarily small, and in fact this one will be a three-parter. In part B, recorded yesterday and published to the podcast feed, Bart walks us through the architecture of his Linkifier module. He starts with the three data modeling classes that he’s been using for decades, but explains how hard it is today to extract article headlines (which is the end goal). He walks through how he developed his extraction logic, but had to do it per domain. That sounds crazy, but he uses surprisingly few sites for his articles for Security Bits and Let’s Talk Apple.
You can find Programming By Stealth Tidbit 19B in your podcatcher of choice, or follow the link in the shownotes to listen along as you read at pbs.bartificer.net/…

Support the Show
When I’m listening to the Mac Geek Gab, I often hear them call out a listener named KiwiGraham. He’s always on top of things, looking stuff up that they need, or answering questions they have. I’m honored that KiwiGraham also listens to the content from the Podfeet Podcasts. We’ve conversed several times and it’s always a joy. He made me even happier recently when he went to podfeet.com/donate and bought me a whole bunch of coffee! The service is really cool. You just pick the number of coffees to buy, where one cup is $5. They have defaults for 3 and 5 and a field where you can type in any number you like. No account required; just put in a credit card or Apple Pay and you’re done. As KiwiGraham said in his donation, he found the money in his couch cushions just as I’d hoped! Thanks KiwiGraham for your support of the work we do here.
