Steve and I put our engineering heads together to modify the Ring Video Doorbell so we can actually see the doorstep. In another Tiny Tip, I explain how you can use Mactracker with bidvoy to figure out how at what price your Apple device might sell. Steve Sheridan comes in with a confession of how he actually likes the Magic Trackpad better than his mouse (and says I was right). I talk about the new new 12.9″ iPad Pro and how happy I am to have it back in my life.
Hi this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Mac Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday July 2, 2017 and this is show number 634.
Chit Chat Across the Pond
I had the best time on Chit Chat Across the Pond this week. My guest was Kelly Guimont, contributing editor to the Mac Observer and also a volunteer at App Camp for Girls, founded by our good friend Jean MacDonald. Kelly explains how the concept of a camp just for 8-9th grade girls to learn to code came about, how they got it launched and how it actually works. To give you an idea of the kind of conversations we had, there will be a point where we discuss the relative merits of talking to ducks, garden gnomes and turtles. Also there are hula hoops and snacks. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did, you can find the conversation in the Chit Chat Across the Pond or Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite feeds in your podcatcher of choice, or at the link in the show notes.
ScreenCasts Online Magazine
Check out my article Touch Bar 6 Months Later AND my video tutorial on PlusPlus Apps in ScreenCasts Online Magazine screencastsonline.com/magazine/. This is a fantastic way to get Don’s videos, and the ones from contributors from people like ME. Plus you get articles, hints and tips from David Sparks, Katie Floyd, Wally AND Wendy Cherwinski, Frank Petrie, Mike Schmitz and Todd Olthoff, and ME. No subscription required, you can buy these issues a la carte to read on your iPad.
Patreon and Amazon
I want to give a big shout out to Rob Pither for being our newest patron of the Podfeet Podcasts. That’s just fun to say, right? Rob found value in the content and wanted to help so he went to podfeet.com/patreon and elected to contribute a small dollar amount every month to support the shows. I think Patreon is a terrific model because you as a contributor are 100% in control of how much you spend. The only way the number changes is if I don’t do a show, and that only makes it go down. I feel such joy that so many of you have found enough value in the show to contribute as much as you have. Thanks Rob!
That’s going to wind this up for this week. Don’t forget to send in your Dumb Questions, comments and suggestions by emailing me at email@example.com, follow me on twitter @podfeet. Remember, everything good starts with podfeet.com/. podfeet.com/patreon, podfeet.com/facebook, podfeet.com/googleplus, podfeet.com/amazon! And if you want to join in the fun of the live show, head on over to podfeet.com/live on Sunday nights at 5pm Pacific Time and join the friendly and enthusiastic NosillaCastaways. Thanks for listening, and stay subscribed.
