NC #703 HashPhotos on SCO, TCL Monitor and Bias Lighting, Choosing Your Activity Goal, Wonky Wifi Testing

I’m super excited about my latest tutorial on ScreenCasts Online about HashPhotos. In Chit Chat Across the Pond I interviewed a former NASA engineer turned science fiction author named Darren Beyer. George from Tulsa brings us his success story with a TCL Monitor and bias lighting. Then we’ll go through the answers you gave to Rush Sherman’s Dumb Question last week about how to best choose your Activity goal for Apple Watch. Then I’ll tell you about a cool WiFi diagnostic tool that comes with macOS called Wireless Diagnostics and how I used it to try to figure out what’s wrong with my internal network.

Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Monday, October 29, 2018, and this is show number 703.

We got our son Kyle married off this weekend to Nikki and it was a total blast. It’s fun when the families get along. I expected that but I didn’t expect how much fun her friends would be. Steve and I danced from about 7pm till midnight, almost non stop. I’ve got ice on my right knee as a result, because I’m 60 but I don’t regret a bit of it. I appreciate you all being patient enough to wait until Monday night for me to do the show.

Steve and I hope to see you all in the chat room tomorrow for the Apple announcement. Head over to podfeet.com/chat at 7 AM Pacific Time so we can all get giddy with excitement together.

Chit Chat Across the Pond

I get a lot of PR emails trying to get me to interview people. I’ve never responded to one until now. I was asked if I wanted to interview a former NASA Space Shuttle Engineer turned science fiction author named Darren Beyer. How could I possibly refuse?

In Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite this week, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Darren about his amazing adventures. Darren’s stories were fascinating as he described being one of the last people tramping around in the cargo bay of the Shuttle before the astronauts got into it to go to space. What a crazy dream job!

We then shifted gears into talking his science fiction books. He’s got two books out in The Anghazi Series, book one called “Casimir Bridge” and book two was just released, called “Pathogen Protocol“. After I got off the air with Darren, I said, “You know we’re friends now, that’s all there is to it.” Loved talking to him and I think you’ll enjoy the conversation as much as we did.

Because we’re nerds, a conversation about NASA engineering and science fiction is considered “lite” so you can find this episode in Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite or in the full Chit Chat Across the Pond feed in your podcatcher of choice. As always you can listen directly at podfeet.com/…

Answers to Rush’s Dumb Question on Activity Goals

Patreon

I’m really excited to welcome Clan Rowlands to our list of patrons of the Podfeet Podcasts. It’s like being a patron of the arts. Only it’s a podcast. And it’s about tech not art. So totally the same. Anyway Clan went to podfeet.com/patreon and signed up to contribute a dollar amount a week to help us continue to produce the shows. He felt there was enough value in the knowledge he gains and the entertainment value of the shows we produce here. It’s that value for value thing that really makes Patreon a great way to contribute to the show. If you’ve got some spare money just taking up room in your bank account, please consider being a patron and show your support like Clan and the other fine patrons.
