The Apple Decision With Allison Sheridan: SMRpodcast 604

This week I desperately wanted to argue with someone about the incessant handwringing that’s going on right now about how Apple wants 12% of the revenue that developers will make when they were forced to allow third-party payment systems. I didn’t want to do a simple rant on the NosillaCast, so I asked the guys over at the SMR Podcast if I could come on and argue with Rod Simmons about it. He’s usually good for taking whatever side I’m not on. They thought it was a grand idea. So open your podcatcher of choice and download episode 604 of the SMR Podcast called “The Apple Decision with Allison Sheridan”, or follow the link in the shownotes. I had a blast and I think they did too.

CES 2024: MEATER Smart Meat Thermometer

I said during the interview that we really love the MEATER temperature probes and I wasn’t lying. Steve smoked some ribs this weekend (he learned at the feet of the master, Chris Ashley of the BBQ and Tech podcast). He used his MEATER probes and the ribs were fantastic – tender and juicy!

This week, listener Corrie contacted me asking for advice on how to buy Apple Vision Pro. His questions centered around how to choose just the right Zeiss inserts to correct his vision. I’m not certain I gave him good advice, but I did do some research and I did give him my best guess. He was evidently happy because he made a very generous one-time donation to the podcast via PayPal. I asked him if he might not want his money back if the lenses don’t work out for him. He laughed at my little joke and then said, “I love hearing your perspective on all things computing and you deserve to be compensated for your creativity.” Isn’t that the sweetest thing? You can be sweet too by following Corrie’s lead and going to podfeet.com/paypal to show your appreciation for the shows.
