Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite logo Two interlocking ribbons, one red, one blue. The word Lite is across the logo in a playful font. The podfeet (two little bare feet) are in the upper right. The background is dark blue with Chat and Chat in the upper left and lower right corners with "across the pond" in thin letter across the bottom. Sounds more confusing than it is!

CCATP #490 – Bart Busschots on Fitness & Tech

Just about a year ago Bart Busschots came on the show to talk about how he was using tech to become fit and healthy. He’s back with a “one year on” report of his success and to talk both about the tech and some philosophical perspective on why this path worked for him. Plus, he says I was right. Check out his full blog post on the subject at: Getting Fit with Tech – One Year On : Bart Busschots.

Thank you so much for this update. Bart had inspired me to try to lose weight a while back and his description of MyFitnessPal & Apple Watch had helped me find my own “regiment”.

I have a few additional tips:

    * get yourself a really good kitchen scale – it can also help with the “portion size”
    * look into getting Activity++ – it shows you for how many days you met your goals and it has the concept of a snooze day
    * treat yourself, but don’t make it a habit, so it stays a treat rather than becomes a habit

Long story short: Thank you for these episodes, they helped me tremendously become a more healthy person!

“Dutch” Food Tip (of the bad type): Stroopwafels are great. When you get a chance try Gevulde Koeken – they are amazing, despite the fact that they are a calorific nightmare.

    Hi Claus,

Thanks for the kind words, and for the tips – totally agree about the scale, and about the treats, and I’ll give Activity++ a go – I’ve heard quite a few people say good things about it, and since its name is a bit of a programming joke, how could I not

Thanks for the feedback Claus – and we both felt bad that we can’t keep you and Bastian straight in our heads! Both German, both Apple fanatics, both just got in great physical shape. It’s good company to be in.
